The Committee on Accreditation for Education Programs for Kinesiotherapy (CoA-KT) consists of a 9-member Board of Directors including representative members from the AKTA and ACE. Current members are active in their profession and include educators and practicing kinesiotherapists. The CoA-KT, in cooperation with the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), develops, maintains, and assures compliance with educational standards established for Kinesiotherapy educational programs, to promote a competent patient centered workforce. The CoA-KT reviews Kinesiotherapy educational programs offered by colleges and universities to assure compliance with the Standards and Guidelines for Accredited Educational Programs for Kinesiotherapy (Standards). The review includes evaluation of course offerings, clinical training sites, affiliated personnel, faculty, resources and other areas identified in the Standards. Following comprehensive review of a program, the CoA-KT makes a recommendation to the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) for an accreditation status. CAAHEP is the accrediting body, so it acts upon the recommendation of the CoA-KT and awards/denies accreditation.
